Tanzania Stakeholder and End-User Workshop

Tanzania Stakeholder and End User Workshop

The IANDA Project Team developed and conducted a half-day workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 28 June 2016 to convene national and regional food price data stakeholders and end users. Bringing together individuals from a range of organizations, our workshop featured presentations from the National Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Mtandao wa Vikundi vya Wakulima Tanzania (MWIVATA), and the East African Grain Council, and participants who represent INGOs, academia, UN agencies, and other governmental institutions. The presentations addressed the various food price data collection methods, coverage areas, and information systems employed by each organization, which was followed by a lively discussion on ways to harmonize those systems and ensure the prioritization of collecting price data for diverse foods for nutrition. Our Tanzania Team, Dr. Fulgence Mishili and Dr. Joyce Kinabo, both faculty at the Sokoine University of Agriculture in Morogoro, Tanzania, will continue to work with stakeholders and end users, and our full team will hold a research dissemination workshop next year in the summer of 2017.
